Signing With Andrew ????

Andrew knows over 100 signs in ASL that he learned from watching Signing Time DVDs. I thought it would be fun to capture some on video. Andrew thought it would be fun to run around in circles and throw himself on the floor. This is a couple of minutes of about 20 minutes of footage I took trying to get him to sign for me. We had a fun time, even if it wasn't exactly what I was hoping to archive. It is 100% pure Andrew!

Emily's (or was it Rachel's?) 18th Birthday

My sister, Emily turned 18 on Saturday the 22nd. (Isn't she beautiful?) We went to Fort Bragg to celebrate. She had a huge party with over 20 friends who came. When it was time to sing Happy Birthday, Nana accidentally sang "Dear Rachel" instead of "Dear Emily." The look on Emily's face is priceless! You have to watch the video.

Papa's brother Dan, and his wife and three kids came up from Florida to tell Papa good-bye before he leaves for Iraq. I was able to snap a few shots of them as well with my camera. Hopefully Nana has some others that I can also add.

Grandpa Bud

Grandpa Bud came to visit North Carolina this weekend and the boys were very excited to see him! We were able to meet up with him for dinner on Friday night. We wished he lived closer so we could see him more often.

Future Missionary

Andrew loves to sing! He sings more than he speaks. (And he talks a lot)! Here is a clip of him singing his very favorite song. I was trying to get him to sing and SIGN a song, from signing time, but he would only sing this song for me on camera.

Ryan is on the move!

Ryan is on a roll! He is rolling over all the time. His favorite target is his brother's doll. (Yes, Andrew chose an Annie doll from Little Einsteins at the store. He calls it his little sister).

Andrewisms-Updated 9-30-2007

Chad wants me to write down some of the things Andrew has said recently, so we don't forget them.

On the way to the zoo with Mommy:
Andrew-Mommy, we need to go and rescue Daddy.
Mommy-From What?
Andrew-From work!

After a time out at Nana's house for playing in the blinds after many previous warnings.
Daddy-Andrew, why are you in time out?
Andrew-Because Nana doesn't want me to have any fun!

Watching his Daddy eat a popsicle after Andrew was told he couldn't have a popsicle because he didn't finish his dinner.
Andrew-Daddy can I bite it?
Andrew-(stops and thinks a moment) can I smell it?

On the way to the mall we pass the hospital where the boys were born.
Andrew-Can we go the hospital and get lots of Baby Ryans?

Andrew has a Brio Train Tunnel with a cow, pig and horse. We were playing with it one morning after breakfast.
Mommy-Andrew, what do cows make?
Mommy-What do pigs make?
Mommy-That's right! What do you think horses make?
Andrew-Horses make waffles!!!!

At lunch one day:
Mommy-What would you like to drink with your lunch? Juice or milk?
Andrew-(Shutting the refrigerator door)-No milk. No juice. I just want chocolate in my cup!

Andrew has been having a lot of nose bleeds lately. 5 already this week. Those of you who have had a two year old before, can imagine how difficult it is to get one to stay calm, sit still, and allow you to pinch their nose while they choke on the blood and tears until the bleeding stops! (It is impossible)! Yesterday he had his second bloody nose of the day. I was in the bathtub holding him still, pinching his nose, and singing a song to him while he screamed "NO NO NO NO NO NO!" over and over again. Suddenly he became silent. In his sweetest little voice he said, "No, thank you Mommy. No thank you. No thank you. I don't like it. I don't like it. Please Mommy. No thank you." How do you keep inflicting 'pain' on a child who is using his best manners to ask you to leave him alone? I started to cry right along with him and Ryan (who was also hysterical at this point because his big brother was screaming). I let go of Andrew's nose and just said a prayer that it would stop bleeding. It did! I am so grateful. I couldn't have continued!

Aunt Emily is killing a spider.
Emily-(hitting the spider) Die! Die! Die
Andrew-What are you doing?
Emily-Um...I'm just hitting the carpet.
Andrew-I think, I think you might be crazy.

Mommy tells the story of the three bears.
Mommy: And the Baby Bear said "Boo-hoo-hoo! Somebody broke my chair."
Andrew: Stop that Mommy. Daddy says no fake crying. He doesn't like the fake crying.

Andrew pees in the tub during a bubble bath.
Andrew: Look Daddy, I am putting more bubbles in the tub.

Summer Fun At Home

These are just some cute pics of the boys at home this summer.

Topsail Beach

We went for the day to Topsail Island with Papa, Nana, Emmy, and Rachel. Ryan slept under the beach umbrella on the beach chair. Andrew loved playing in the sand building castles and jumping in the waves.

Pioneer Day Picnic in Pinehurst

We went to the Pioneer Day Picnic in Pinehurst with Chad's parents. Andrew rode in a boat for the first time. Ryan received a special quilt from Grandma Mary.

Fort Bragg

We spent a lot of time at Fort Bragg this summer. Andrew went ice skating for the first time. Ryan spent lots of time cuddling with his papa.

Pigeon Forge

These pictures are from Pigeon Forge this summer. We went there with Chad's family for a week. Andrew had so much fun playing with his cousins.

End of Summer

With Papa shipping off to Iraq in the next few weeks, Grandma and Grandpa moving to Switzerland, and Grandpa Bud living in Florida, we decided it was time to start a family blog. That way they can keep up with all the silly and crazy things our boys do and say. We are starting by uploading some of our family photos from our adventures this summer. We hope you enjoy!
